MS Walk 2009 - We won yet another prestigous Mission Possible Team award by raising a total of $19,000 with the help of the Verizon Foundation's Matching Incentive Program. Going into the year, the cumulative total raised by our team over its first six years was $98,000. Thus, we smashed the $100,000 plateau. To mark the occasion we wore commemorative t-shirts featuring a logo of a $100,000 bill. It was a play on some research I did in which there actually was a limited number of $100K bills printed by the Federal Reserve. They were never distributed to the public but were rather used internally when they shifted the monetary system away from being backed by gold. The bill was printed in an orange color just like our t-shirts except that ours said Old City Posse and was signed by me instead of Franklin Roosevelt’s Secretary of the Treasury. There were 50 walkers on the team.
